The Solstice Stone provides a place of solace for the loss experienced by so many in recent years. A single boulder is split in two, eternal separation between what was once a single entity. Yet, by splitting the boulder, light is introduced into a place where there was once only darkness.

The slice in the stone faces true north so that on the equinox at solar noon and on each solstice, both cut faces of the split stone are equally illuminated and the shadows cast from the stone mark the angle of the sun, the change of the seasons, and the onward march of time.
